DTU Fangstjournal

The Fangstjournal is an angler's journal and it  has been developed in collaboration with DTU Aqua. The first idea was born on a cold January day in 2012. Since then, both a web-based solution and a mobile solution have been developed that run on both Android and iPhone. In fact, we are now on version 2 of the mobile app, which has had a complete overhaul of both layout and underlying architecture.

The solution is currently based on an XPages based web solution and a mobile solution developed in Microsoft Xamarin. Behind it all is a Couchbase database, which is a document-oriented database with the potential to grow very large and still deliver good response times. The mobile app and the database synchronize updates almost immediately - when there is a network connection. If the app is not connected to the outside world, it simply collects information from the fishing trip, and when the connection to the server is restored, all changes are synchronized back to the server.

Over the past few years, the solution has been expanded with facilities aimed at anglers' associations and their members and, most recently, the associations that manage the Danish salmon fishery. In fact, from 2021 we have handled the salmon quota for the first of the associations. This means that the app handles all reporting automatically, as well as showing the angler what fish are currently left in the quota for the particular fishing water he or she is fishing in. All these extra facilities naturally only happen with the user's consent.

We have today reached more than 14,000 users on the solution who now contribute their fishing trips and catches to DTU Aqua's scientific work!

Sherlock Web

Through a long collaboration with the European House of Quality, we have made many customer specific customisation to the recognized and popular Sherlock Web system. The typical customizations are to forms for reporting deviations, new overviews, optimizations in relation to the individual customer's use of the system - or completely new functions that naturally belong together with the system.

We have made many integrations for ERP systems, so that customers obtain less duplication of information and typing and greater reuse of data that already exists in the company. These customizations are typically made in HCL XPages and integration written in Java.

The customer's IT reinforcement

With several customers, we have acted as a "reinforcement" in connection with various projects.

It is a bit difficult to describe, but the various challenges can cover competent sparring for a future, new external supplier of a system. It can also be sparring for future IT strategy or troubleshooting related to an acute problem outside the normal work area for the customer (e.g. virus attack).

There is no definitive list, so ask us! And if we don't think we can help you ourselves - we might just know someone who can!

Domino upgrades

Many customers have used Notes/Domino over a long time. And during IBM's lack of focus on the platform, many have also chosen to "leave it alone" and stay on the version that worked for them.

However, several people have recently experienced that they have had to update the operating system that Domino runs on top of - and thus had to update.... Since HCL's takeover of Notes/Domino, however, there has been a completely different active development of the products!

We have recently helped several customers upgrade from version 6.5.4 and 7.0.3 to HCL Domino version 11.0.1 - and everything just keeps running!!! Naturally, we have utilized many of the new features to give users even better response times and uptime!
